Adverse Impact Reduction Handbook

Adverse Impact Reduction Handbook

"Adverse Impact Reduction Handbook: Reducing Onshore Natural Gas and Oil Exploration and Production Impacts Using a Broad-Based Stakeholder Approach," has just been released to IOGCC governors, representatives and committee members.

The publication, available on IOGCC's Web site, is aimed at providing information that can be utilized nationwide to increase access to federal lands through the development of consistent environmental impact avoidance, minimization, and mitigation specific to onshore oil and gas development.

What's the Risk?

Unfortunately, we've all heard about serious injuries and deaths suffered by curious people who wander too close to a tanker, pumping unit or pipeline. Recently, one 17-year-old Oklahoma boy was forced to have his left arm amputated to free him from the pump jack that he and a friend decided to take for a ride.

The IOGCC would like to encourage everyone to continue the efforts of educating your area about the risk of well sites.

A few years ago, the IOGCC teamed up with the Louisiana Office of Conservation, U.S. Department of Energy and the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board (OERB) to provide the states with educational material on the risk of well sites to young children. We urge you to check OERB’s Web site for educational information or contact the staff of the IOGCC for additional information.
