See You This Sunday!
As snow showers descend upon Chicagoland, showers of spiritual blessing and renewal are also falling upon the College Church family.
Winter Revival
What a wonderful week we have experienced at College Church! The Lord used our special workers to communicate His truth and challenge us to experience life transformation. Dr. David Leeder preached powerful and inspired biblical messages, Pastor Fred Meadows led our worship and prepared our hearts to receive from the Lord. Mel LaMar ministered to our children in our new Children’s Revival. Each night significant life-changing decisions were made, and many are testifying to victory and new spiritual freedom like never before.
Our 4-day attendance total was an outstanding 3,990, in spite of a winter storm on Tuesday evening!! Praise the Lord! Sunday morning attendance alone was 1,621. Our evening services averaged 592, with a high of 702 for the closing evening! Praise God for 3,990 opportunities for change this week. Children’s Pastor Beth Bidle reports 119 different children (ages 4-4th grade) attended at least one service during the week. 34 children accepted Jesus into their hearts. An average of 94 children and helpers were present each night. The children raised $300 during the week to help cover revival expenses.
Lenten Season Begins
As we continue to make spiritual decision daily, and our lives take on a different look as God continues to transform us, we enter the Lenten season with a commitment to obedience. “I Need Change” is our theme from Ash Wednesday (February 6) through Easter Sunday (March 23). All regular activities are scheduled for February 6, but for those desiring imposition of ashes, please visit the CLC from 8:00 to 8:15 following your regular Wednesday event.
It’s Time for Change
We all need change. As we enter into this season of Lent, we want to give everyone an opportunity to acknowledge the changes they need to make in their lives. In order for this to take place, we have created a website, www.ineedchange.org, that allows people to anonymously submit their changes. We believe the first step in making a change is confessing the need. We invite you to visit the site, read the stories, and submit your change.
Sr. High Ministries Welcomes Mike Morgan
We welcome Mike Morgan, as our new interim Sr. High Pastor. Mike is a professor at Olivet, and has served as a youth pastor in previous assignments. He brings a wealth of experience and deep passion for young people to the role of interim pastor for our Sr. High youth. Be sure and thank Mike for his willingness to serve our youth during this time.
Spread the Word
As the new College Church electronic newsletter picks up a regular pace, be sure and encourage others to sign up. Feel free to forward copies of the newsletters to those you think would like to stay in touch with the life of the College Church family.
See You This Sunday!
Come worship with the family this Sunday, and bring a neighbor or friend with you! Everyone needs a regular encounter with God and with fellow disciples of the Christ. All four regular services will be celebrated this Sunday. Dr. Mark Quanstrom will be preaching at both University Campus services (9 and 10:30) and Dr. Michael Benson, our University chaplain, will be preaching at the North Campus (9 and 10:30). The sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated.
